Pépin’s gossip April edition

Welcome to our spring newsletter!
With the vines in full bloom and our teams hard at work preparing the ground, we’re delighted to share with you the latest news from our domaine.

The vines

The vines are on fire, ready to give us some crazy grapes this autumn!
While our favorite grapes are emerging from their cocoon, the team is busy preparing the ground for their arrival.
Compost, lovingly prepared according to biodynamic principles, is being spread on the soil, to nourish our vines with the best of natural nutrients.
Meanwhile, the vineyard team completes the planting of the vines, replacing any unhealthy vines with young plants full of life.

The new posters

You know what’s better than a Michel Tolmer poster?
Three Michel Tolmer posters, of course!
We don’t know how he does it, but he manages to capture the beauty of life in every one of his creations.

New vintages

Hey, hey, hey, let me tell you about our new vintages that will make your head spin. Looking for something fresh and sparkling?
Try our Pépin Pet Nat.
This blend of sylvaner, pinot gris, riesling and gewurztraminer has a delicious bubble and an acidity that will make you fizz with pleasure.
It’s the perfect wine to celebrate spring!
And if you want something funkier, our Orange is for you.
With its six grape varieties – klevner, muscat, sylvaner, pinot gris, riesling and auxerrois – it offers an explosion of citrus flavors with a touch of freshness.
It’s less bitter than our not-yet-released next Orange, which is more about fresh citrus, ginger and a spicy finish.
Note that this next Orange is made from 100% Gewurztraminer.

News from Louise

Louise, our favorite nomad, visited Munich, Vienna, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Pépin’s gossip February edition

Helloo, how are Pépin subscribers doing since Christmas?
We’ve missed you!
We’ve rounded up the juiciest news from the last 2 months.
To be enjoyed without moderation in the evening with a glass of natural wine 😉

The vines

Before the wine in the glass, the vine in the soil.
They are still in their winter resting period.
We prune them to prepare them for the fruiting season.
Here’s a rather interesting shot.
Why scatter lime, you may ask?
Quite simply, because when the soil becomes too acidic, granular lime helps to raise the pH of the soil and counterbalance the acidity.
Lime provides calcium and promotes the decomposition of organic matter into humus.
The exact name of this process is “liming”.

Trade shows

Let’s move on to the trade shows.
Like migratory birds, we took advantage of the southern trade shows in Montpellier, such as Biotop and Millésime Bio, to fill up on sunshine.

These trade shows were an opportunity for Pierre, Jean, Sarah, Louise and Maximilien to meet up with old friends and introduce Pépin to new customers and exporters.
Stay tuned!
Who knows, maybe on your next vacation to Hawaii, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of fresh Pépink 😉

Get out your diaries!
The Wine Paris trade show will be held in… Paris, from February 13 to 15.
We’ll be there, and look forward to seeing you and talking with you!

The producers

After our little jaunt to the South, we made a little jaunt to Perpignan and Canet to visit one of our main Pépin Rouge producers, where we discussed the road we’ve travelled together, old vintages and got lost in the acres of future delights. Keep your ears peeled as we also discussed the next Pépins Rouge.
We were lucky enough to taste the ones currently in production to ensure that ripening goes smoothly.
The new red is full of promise.
Worth the wait!
Get ready, your taste buds are in for a treat!

We also paid a visit to Antoine Bernardin, producer of La Petite Odyssée.
He donned his guide’s hat and gave us a tour of his winery.
We tasted Le Saillant’ s forthcoming cuvées, Furie, and Pet Nat Rosé.
Our verdict?
A mouth-watering euphoria awaits, with plenty of surprises in store.

Pépin pinot noir

Now for the red carpet section.
As we announced a few months ago, the star is here!
Thunderous applause for everyone’s favorite, Le Pinot Noir Pépin 👏👏.
Nous sommes très fiers qu’il plaise à autant de personnes.

If you haven’t discovered it yet, get in quick before the bottles go like hotcakes.

Louise la vagabonde

A star never arrives alone.
The one in the photo is called Louise.
Some of you already know her face!
She’s our export sales rep.

Decked out in her finest feathers, she left her stork’s nest to take to the skies and spread the word about Pépin abroad.

His goal?
To make Pépin known throughout the world.

Louise, you’ll leave a place as big as a kouglof in your team’s hearts.

We miss you already.
Come back soon with lots of memories!

The team expands

Life goes on in the Pépin. Our team is growing from strength to strength. And as the saying goes, the more the merrier. Amandine is our new sales administrator. If you come and pay the team a surprise visit, you’ll discover some new faces.

And soon, Jean-François will be coordinating the office’s financial and administrative objectives.
If your pallets are tidier than usual, it’s thanks to Abdelmajid.
Finally, Valentine will be our next trainee.
What happiness!

Winter gossip

Hey, what’s new since last time?

This week in Alsace, the thermometer dropped to -15°C in some villages!
It may come as a surprise to you, but the cold heralds the first signs of winter.
of an excellent vintage. As the snow slowly melts, the vines take the time to capture all the minerals essential to their development. During this time of year, vines also enjoy their winter vacation, returning from a vegetative period.
Nature’s cycle begins: the leaves change color, until they fall completely, leaving the vine bare.
The sap leaves the branches and takes refuge in the roots. Then the work of the next vintage begins, so that they can produce beautiful grapes.
To do this, we need to choose the branch where the buds will germinate, which will then give us the shoots on which the grapes will blossom.

We leave the vineyards and travel.
During these 2 months, we’ve had the opportunity to chat, propose our new cuvées and have a laugh with some of you. It was great to come and see you, and put a face on our customers far from our native Alsace!
Whether you were in Paris, Toulouse or Lyon, you gave offa great energy that got us all fired up to provide you with even better wines.
Louise and Pierre went to Tom Sawyer to present Pépin at Raw, natural wine fairs and festivals.
They passed through Los Angeles, where bathing suits are de rigueur, before switching to scarves in Vancouver.

Our first Orange Party took place on Monday, October 31.
In a word: magical!
If you’re unfamiliar with the term orange wine, we’ll explain theprocesswith our poster!

We’re taking you on a journey back in time, as one of our members has

brought back after a return to the future a shooter with da piston valve, which is immediately usable without a bottle of CO2.
No hassle, all you need is
dA caskhead and you’re off for the party of the century. We’re making this little jewel available to you free of charge with the sale of da keg. We recommend keeping red wine at room temperature, while white wine should be chilled the day before, like a bottle of Pépin.

And because we can’t stop surprising you, Pépin offers freshly designed t-shirts.
The ingenious Michel Tolmer designedour superb back labels.
Like our wines, they respect nature.
Express your hidden talent: are you more of an accordion player, dancer or violinist?
T-shirts, party pumps and orange wine posters are all here, or will be, …drum roll! 🥁🥁on our website!
Launched a week ago, you can now place orders for both private and professional customers: for you, dear professionals, you can alreadyfind your personal account here.

As you can imagine, the price of our raw materials, glass and packaging has risen sharply.
To guarantee the life of your favorite estate, we have reluctantly had to increase our prices slightly.
Our philosophy has not changed one iota: Pépin will always aim to delivera committed, yet accessible, natural wine.
And to finish on a high note, one last piece of good news!
Our new natural sparkling wine has been bottled in its finest finery.
This nugget joins the other Pet Nat wines we’ve been producing recently, and we’re pampering them at the moment!
100% Gewurztraminer, it’s very floral on the nose, fresh overall, and quite aromatic on the palate.
Rather mojito-like, with lemon, lime and mint aromas.
A perfect accompaniment to fish with beurre blanc, Lebanese specialties, coconut chicken… A true delight alreadyavailable at the cellar, on order and on our website.
That’s how our last 2 months have gone.
For our part, we’re looking forward to spending Christmas with our families and celebrating the end of this wonderful year with our colleagues.
The cold weather makes the warmth ofthe holidays precious.
We wish you all the very best for the festive season🥳 🥳!
